So, I have decided that today, is pizza day!
As I stood in my kitchen getting the ingredients -- bell pepper, onions, chicken, etc -- to prepare my store bought pizza a conversation started in my mind. No, I am not crazy and I think you will agree when I share with you, what God told me.
"Want what you have, Racquel. Desire what you already have. Nothing good will your God withhold from you..."
The voice said to me loud and clear.
The conversation continued something like this, however, I am sharing it in my own words and based on my own understanding.
The thing is, we have a tendency to want what we do not have. It is almost like we believe life is a journey that takes us through a process of hoarding in order to survive, thrive and be happy. So in our travels, we seek to grab and hold on to as many things, people and stuff, we can.
I love you, so I need to have you. I can't just love you and you not love me and want to be with me for life. I have been going through this myself. When I love someone and desire them, I have this hunger to have them. The same for things I desire. So I wanted some pizza and I had a really strong desire for it, I had to have it. I tried everything to get the professionally made one, but it wasn't to be. So I bought my store bought pizza, all the while thinking, it won't be the same. However, while it may not be the same, it is the one that became possible and was within my reach.
How do we love what we have, or what flows freely? I am not certain I have the answer for this, but, here are five things I learned this morning as I was prepping and cooking my home-made pizza while me and my God was in a serious conversation #MeandGod:
God loves you, beyond measure; and nothing that is good for you will he withhold from you or me
What you have is all you need, because when you truly need something you are willing to do whatever it takes to get it. Therefore, it makes sense to be content with what you have until you do what it takes to get whatever else you need.
When you want what you already have, your desires are met. You have the choice of enjoying those things and celebrating the best of them.
When you value, cherish and desire what you already have, you experience less disappointment and pain. Man, is there anything more painful that yearning for a love and relationship from a person that simply cannot or just will not love you back and give you that relationship you so desire? I barely think so.
What you have, have already chosen you. Love who loves you. Desire what is in harmony with you and you shall find peace, joy and happiness. Real love is struggle-free. What is meant to be, will be.
And so, for today, I am in deep gratitude to God for loving and choosing me. I choose to be happy; and in those moments when it gets hard, I will fake it if I have to. But, I am determined to want what I have.
You have you. Love you. Cherish you. Desire the things you already have, and that will attract the best that life has for you, to you. Your blessing is already here. You have that miracle you are waiting for. Find peace in the here and now, the where you are at, the who you are with or have in your life; and trust that God knows best and will never withhold what is good for you, from you.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Psalm 84:11
