Success often feels like a mystery reserved for a select few. Yet, many ordinary people reach extraordinary success by understanding themselves better and aligning their actions with their natural mindset. I discovered this truth through a coaching program that helped me identify my thinking style as a pragmatist. This insight changed how I approach my goals, communicate with others, and pursue financial freedom.
Rethinking Your Thinking
People generally fall into three thinking styles: originators, pragmatists, and conservators. Originators create new ideas and push innovation. Conservators value tradition and stability. Pragmatists focus on practical, real-world solutions that work.
For years, I struggled because I tried to operate like an originator or conservator, even though my natural style is pragmatist. I kept asking, “But how does this work?” and felt frustrated when ideas didn’t translate into action. Recognizing my pragmatist mindset gave me clarity and self-acceptance. I realized I value execution, sustainability, and steady progress over chasing perfection or constant innovation.
This clarity removed internal conflict and gave me confidence to move forward in ways that fit me. It also helped me rethink my target audience and how I communicate.
Before this discovery, I tried to appeal to everyone, thinking a wide net would bring better results. Instead, I faced confusion, burnout, and inconsistency. Once I understood my pragmatist mindset, I focused on people who want realistic solutions, step-by-step guidance, and achievable growth.
This focus made my message clearer and more effective. It also helped me connect better with originators and conservators by appreciating their values and communication styles. For example, when working with originators, I learned to respect their big ideas while grounding conversations in practical steps. With conservators, I emphasized stability and proven methods.
Knowing how you think shapes how you move forward. This self-discovery is a powerful investment for anyone chasing financial freedom or early retirement.
A few years back, a client requested my saxophone services and also wanted someone who could play the steel drum. Luckily, I knew someone and managed to arrange it. Before the event, we met once to review some songs in preparation. He had been playing professionally much longer than I had, and his experience was clear in his seasoned performance. I've improved since then, but this steel drum and trumpet player couldn't understand how I was booking so many gigs, including upcoming ones. He was also surprised by the number of 5-star reviews I had received. From his perspective, I'm just an ordinary saxophone player achieving extraordinary results. Looking back, I completely understood his viewpoint. I would likely feel the same way if I were in his shoes. He wanted the success I was experiencing but never achieved it because he didn't change his mindset. He needed to do something I call Rethinking Your Thinking.

Clear Target Audience: I defined who valued my service and focused my message on them.
Staying in My Lane: I concentrated on what I do best instead of trying to be everything to everyone.
Maintaining an Accurate Self-Assessment: I strive to maintain an accurate understanding of my own value.
These principles apply beyond music. They are essential for anyone seeking financial freedom or building a sustainable career.
Stack & Grow – Building Wealth One Layer at a Time
Working in the educational sector gave me security, a steady paycheck, coverage for medical needs, and the comfort of stability. And yes, stability is important, especially when responsibilities are involved. But let’s be honest: stability without growth? That’s just stagnation in disguise.
With the rising cost of living constantly outpacing income, I knew I needed more than just a safety net. I wasn’t chasing shortcuts or unrealistic promises; I wanted something practical, sustainable, and scalable. Something that wouldn’t require a PhD in tech or endless hours of my day. Something I could stack and grow layer by layer so my income wouldn’t just sit in one stream, but flow in multiple directions.
